NASBITE International is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization focused on the advancement of trade education and professionalism in support of global business. Specifically, NASBITE is the leading authority for global business education, trade credentialing, training and practice, and NASBITE is also the steward of the Certified Global Business Professional (CGBP) credential. NASBITE has nearly 2000 CGBPs and members in the United States, Canada and Mexico who work as trade assistance providers, managers in exporting companies and experts in a wide range of service-oriented companies that support international trade.
The International Trade Administration (ITA)/U.S. Commercial Service is the export promotion arm of the U.S. Department of Commerce, with ITA serving as the U.S. government’s lead export promotion agency. ITA strengthens the competitiveness of U.S. industry, promotes trade and investment, and ensures fair trade through the rigorous enforcement of our trade laws and agreements. ITA is organized into three distinct but complementary business units: (1) U.S. Commercial Service/Global Markets; (2) Industry and Analysis; and (3) Enforcement and Compliance. The U.S. Commercial Service/Global Markets unit combines ITA’s country and regional experts, a network of offices in 108 U.S. cities and U.S. embassies and consulates in more than 70 countries, and specific trade promotion programs to provide U.S. firms with the full suite of country-specific export promotion services and market access advocacy, while promoting the United States as an investment destination. The Industry and Analysis unit brings together ITA’s industry, trade, and economic experts to advance the competitiveness of U.S. industries through the development and execution of international trade and investment policies and promotion strategies. The Enforcement and Compliance unit enhances ITA’s responsibilities to enforce U.S. trade laws and ensure compliance with trade agreements negotiated on behalf of U.S. industry. The Maryland/Washington D.C. District Export Council (DEC) consists of international business leaders from throughout the region whose knowledge on international business provides a source of professional advice for local firms. Members are appointed by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and work closely with the Department of Commerce U.S. Export Assistance Centers to sponsor and participate in numerous trade promotion activities.
Other Federal Participants
SBA’s Office of International Trade (OIT) works in cooperation with other federal agencies and public- and private-sector groups to encourage small business exports and to assist small businesses seeking to export. Through 21 U.S. Export Assistance Centers, SBA district offices and a variety of service-provider partners, OIT directs and coordinates SBA’s ongoing export initiatives in an effort to encourage small businesses to go global.
